DNA Paternity Testing Services

DDC’s Genetic Discovery DNA Paternity Testing service provides a definitive answer to questions about paternity. DNA, the genetic material, is inherited by a child from his or her biological parents. DDC’s Genetic Discovery service compares a child’s DNA pattern with that of the alleged father to prove if evidence of this inheritance exists between them. The result of a DNA paternity test is either an exclusion (the alleged father has no possibility to be the biological father), or an inclusion (the alleged father is the biological father).

At DDC Genetic Discovery we offer Legal and Home DNA Paternity Testing services. Below is a comparison of the two different types of tests. Please read more to choose which test is best for you.

Legal Paternity Testing

Legal Paternity Testing is needed when test results need to stand in court or be accepted by the government agencies for various reasons including child custody, child support, inheritance, or immigration. The entire testing process, including DNA sample collection, has to comply with strict Chain of Custody.

Chain of Custody

With Chain of Custody, every tested party’s sample has known and documented origin, as collected and processed by a third party (an individual without any interest in the outcome of the test). DDC’s Genetic Discovery consultants can easily arrange a sample collection appointment with one of our thousands of clinics across United States and overseas. Wherever you are, we can send you to a qualified collection facility to satisfy the chain of custody process, which eventually produces DNA test results that are legally defensible in court.

If you have any questions about this process, please call us at 1-800-833-0992 and we'll be glad to assist you.

Tested Parties

In a standard DNA paternity test, the tested parties include a child, the alleged father, and the mother. The cost for this DNA test is $475. We start the testing process with only a $100 non-refundable partial payment.

The mother’s participation in the paternity test is optional, but helps to exclude half of the child’s DNA, leaving the other half for comparison with the alleged father’s DNA. Tests without mother’s participation are equally conclusive. Although it involves additional analysis, we perform the test without any additional charge.

Sample Collection

We have the largest network of collection facilities in the United States and worldwide, enabling our customers to choose a sample collection appointment most convenient for them. We also have an extensive network consisting of laboratories worldwide for international sample collections.

DDC’s Genetic Discovery service routinely uses the painless buccal (cheek) swab to collect samples. At the collection appointment, our clients are expected to complete a consent form as part of the chain of custody process. The entire visit normally takes less than half an hour to complete.

Home Paternity Testing

In a Home DNA Test, the tested parties collect the DNA samples themselves, at a time and place of their choosing. If you do not need a DNA test for a legal matter - and only want to take a paternity test strictly for your own knowledge - a Home DNA Test might be an appropriate option for you. You can simply place a paternity test order, and we will send you the kit in discreet packaging.

Please note that the results of a Home DNA Test cannot be used as legal proof of paternity, because the identity of the persons tested cannot be verified.
